At Invernalia Rent a Car, every handover begins with an identity check. The driver's ID and driver's license are checked with a scanner from 365id, which confirms in seconds that they are authentic and valid. It is the same verification technology used by international rental companies, banks, and hotels around the world.
We do this for one simple reason: fraud involving fake or stolen documents is one of the biggest risks in the car rental industry. Verifying every document protects our customers, our fleet, and everyone a vehicle encounters on the road.
Zero tolerance for fraud. Any document that is fake, altered, expired, or does not belong to the person presenting it is detected before check-in, and the rental will not proceed. If anyone is thinking of renting with invalid documentation, Invernalia is not the place.
How It Works at the Counter
The entire process takes less than ten seconds and replaces photocopying and manual data entry.
- Show your IDID card, passport, or driver's license. The scanner accepts standard-sized documents.
- The scanner captures itIt takes three images: white light, infrared, and ultraviolet. It also reads the electronic data from chip-enabled passports.
- Cloud ValidationThe images are sent in encrypted form to the 365id service, which compares them against a database of more than 3,000 types of documents.
- Immediate resultThe system indicates whether the document is authentic and valid. Green, yellow, or red.
- Data into the bookingVerified data goes directly into the reservation system: less typing, fewer errors, and faster delivery.
What We Verify
Authenticity
Security features visible only under infrared and ultraviolet light, an electronic chip, and the document's structure.
Validity
Expiration date of the document and the driver's license. An expired license does not authorize you to drive.
Match
The information on the document must match the reservation and the person picking up the vehicle.

Images and data travel encrypted between the scanner and the validation service. Nothing is stored on the counter device.
No copies of valid documents
Images of documents that are authentic are not retained. Only images of documents with questionable or suspicious results are retained for a limited time, for review purposes.
For rental use only
The verified data is used solely for the rental agreement, in accordance with our privacy policy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What documents do I need to bring to pick up the vehicle?
Your identification document (ID card or passport), your valid driver's license in physical form, and a credit card in the driver's name as a security deposit. Additional drivers must also present their identification and driver's license.
Is the digital driver's license on my phone accepted?
The scanner verifies physical documents. Please bring a physical copy of your driver's license: in addition to verification purposes, this is the document that will be required at road checkpoints and border crossings.
What happens if the scanner doesn't recognize my document?
This can happen with very new or uncommon document formats. In that case, our staff verifies the documentation manually and the handover proceeds as usual. The 365id document database is updated continuously, and new formats are added within days.
Do you keep a copy of my document?
No, provided the document is authentic. Images of documents with questionable or suspicious results are only retained for a limited time. Contract information is handled in accordance with our privacy policy.
I booked through an online travel agency. Will I be verified as well?
Yes. Verification takes place at the counter, at the time of handover, regardless of the channel you booked through.
How long does it take?
Less than ten seconds per document. In practice, the process is faster than before, because the data is transferred directly to the contract without having to type it in.
